the Applied Public Policy Research Program.
Applied Public Policy Research
Papers
Through the Applied Public Policy Research Program, the Institute
for Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR) distributes grants
to MSU faculty to develop expertise for Michigan's policymaking
community. IPPSR manages the development of the projects, and disseminates
the findings through dollars allocated by the State of Michigan.
The online listing of grants includes summaries and final reports
of research findings. Topics of grants include the following: Children,
Youth, and Families; Criminal Justice; Health Policy; and Urban
Policy.
Inside IPPSR
Inside IPPSR is a quarterly publication of the Institute for Public
Policy and Social Research. It provides a brief update on current
policy and survey research news and an update on IPPSR events and
publications.
Health Policy Papers
IPPSR partnered with MSU's Institute for Health Care Studies (IHCS)
to develop seven health policy white papers for use in the 2002
state and local elections. The series, entitled Informing the
Debate: Health Policy Options for Michigan Policymakers, was
released on June 4, 2002 before over one-hundred legislators, candidates,
department officials, and others involved in the policy process.
Complete papers and executive summaries are now available online.
Urban Policy Papers
IPPSR is also partnering with the Urban Affairs Programs
(UAP) to eight urban affairs policy white papers. These papers are
also being developed for use in the 2002 state and local elections.
They present balanced and thoughtful information on truly salient
issues. Abstracts of the papers are available online.
