Michigan Residents' Perceptions of Wetlands
and Mitigation
Jon Bartholic
Jon Bartholic is Director of the Institute of Water Research and
Professor in the Department of Resource Development at Michigan
State University. Dr. Bartholic has directed water quality and
land use studies at regional, state, county and local levels to
aid in determining susceptible groundwater contamination areas
and land use practices. He is working with the Natural Resource
Conservation Service (NRCS), the Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) to
study water quality and quantity issues, land use, and whole-farm
planning from a watershed perspective.
Michael D. Kaplowitz
Michael D. Kaplowitz is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Resource Development at Michigan State University. He holds
a Ph.D. in Resource Economics from MSU, a JD from Duke University
School of Law, and an MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced
International Studies. His graduate and undergraduate instruction
is in the area of environmental law and policy. His research focuses
on natural resource valuation and management and includes wetland
ecosystem valuation, watershed management, and the use of transferable
development rights as a growth management tool.
John Kerr
John Kerr is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Resource
Development at Michigan State University. He has a Ph.D. and a
Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics from Stanford University.
His teaching and research programs focus on the role of economic
policy, property rights and collective action in managing land
and water resources, both in the US and overseas.
