Dr. Roberts currently serves as Director of the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR) at Michigan State University and has been affiliated with IPPSR since April 2003. He holds more than 28 years experience in Michigan government, including 10 years as state treasurer, and time as director of the Senate Fiscal Agency, deputy superintendent of the Department of Education, deputy director of the Department of Management and Budget (DMB), and acting director of DMB. He has served on numerous governor-appointed boards addressing statewide public policy issues. He holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in economics from MSU and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland. He has been affiliated with IPPSR since April 2003.

AnnMarie Schneider is the Program Planning Director for the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research with a background of over 20 years of professional accomplishments in communications and marketing, as well as public policy and government relations. She is responsible for creating networks comprised of faculty researchers, policy practitioners, community activists, and business leaders to further inform policy discussion. While coordinating an annual policy forum series, a policy research grant program, and several policy education initiatives, Ms. Schneider also codirects MSU’s Legislative Leadership Program, a national model for state government–university partnerships. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's in Speech and Communication from Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville, respectively. Her post graduate work has been in Adult Learning.

Mark Wilson is associate director of the School of Planning, Design and Construction at Michigan State University, and an associate professor of Urban and Regional Planning. He has Master's degrees from the University of Melbourne (Australia) and the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Regional Science from the University of Pennsylvania. His research and teaching focus on technology planning, cyberspace and society issues, the knowledge economy, urban and regional planning, and the nonprofit sector. Mark Wilson also serves as Vice-Chair of the IGU Commission on the Geography of Information Society.

As Chief Executive Officer, James Croce manages business strategy, leadership initiatives, and government relations for NextEnergy Center, a non-profit corporation dedicated to enabling the commercialization of energy technologies that contribute to economic competitiveness, energy security, and the environment. In 2003 Mr. Croce joined NextEnergy from DTE Energy Technologies where he served as vice president of business development with responsibility for revenue growth and strategic partnerships in the area of renewable energy. He is the co-founder of the Michigan Sustainable Energy Coalition, a renewable energy policy advocacy group.

Dr. Martin C. Hawley is professor and chairperson in the Chemical Engineering & Materials Science School at Michigan State University. He has received the Distinguished Faculty Award and has developed graduate and undergraduate courses in chemical kinetics and chemical reactor design; applied mathematics; process design, economics and optimization. For the past ten years, he was co-director of the State of Michigan/Industry/University Cooperative Research Center on Low-Cost, High-Speed Polymer Composites Processing. The National Science Foundation, State of Michigan, and Industry supported this Center. He is currently professor and chairperson of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.
