2007 Annual Dinner and Breakfast

Paul BegalaJC WattsTwo commentators from opposite sites of the aisle offered thoughtful analysis at MPLP’s 12th annual dinner in Livonia and 5th annual West Michigan breakfast. Former Clinton White House adviser Paul Begala (pictured left), the Democratic voice, and former Congressman J.C. Watts (pictured right), a football standout and conservative adviser to Republican President George W. Bush’s administration, starred in 2007. Popular personalities Free Press columnist Carol Cain and WOOD-TV Senior News Anchor Suzanne Geha moderated the events.

2006 Annual Dinner and Breakfast

Terry McAuliffeEd GillespieTwo former party leaders, one a Republican and the other a Democrat, were in the spotlight during MPLP’s 11th annual dinner and fourth annual breakfast. Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe (pictured left) and former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie (pictured right) took to the twin podiums at dinner in Livonia and the following morning’s breakfast in Grand Rapids. Carol Cain, Detroit Free Press columnist and television show host, and WOOD-TV News Anchor Suzanne Geha graced the stages as moderators.

2005 Annual Dinner and Breakfast

In 2005, MPLP celebrated its tenth annual dinner in Livonia and third annual breakfast in Grand Rapids. Featured guests: Presidential candidates Howard Dean (pictured left) and Patrick Buchanan (pictured right), Carmen Harlan, Senior News Anchor with WDIV-TV, Detroit; and Suzanne Geha News Anchor, WOOD TV-Channel 8, Grand Rapids. 2004 Annual Dinner and Breakfast

Tucker CarlsonJames CarvilleIn 2004, MPLP held its ninth annual dinner in Livonia and second annual breakfast in west Michigan. Both events featured CNN Crossfire co-hosts Tucker Carlson (pictured left) and James Carville (pictured right). Carmen Harlan, Senior News Anchor with WDIV-TV, Detroit, moderated the dinner discussion; and Kim Covington, News Anchor with WZZM-12, Grand Rapids, moderated the breakfast. 2003 Annual Dinner and Inaugural Breakfast

Dee Dee MyersKaren HughesIn 2003, MPLP held its annual dinner in Livonia and an inaugural breakfast in west Michigan. Both the dinner and breakfast featured a discussion between Dee Dee Myers (pictured left), White House press secretary during the Clinton administration and consultant to the NBC television series The West Wing; and Karen Hughes (pictured right), who contributed to President George W. Bush’s recent State of the Union address, and has served as advisor to the President and director of the Texas Republican Party. Carmen Harlan, Senior News Anchor with WDIV-TV, Detroit, moderated the dinner discussion; and Eduardo B. (Ed) Fernandez, Vice President and General Manager of WXMI-TV, Grand Rapids, moderated the breakfast. 2002 Annual Dinner

Simpson (pictured right). The event was a special ten-year anniversary celebration that was moderated by Don Gonyea, National Public Radio, White House Correspondent.
