Michigan Applied Public Policy Grant Applications Now Under Review

The Institute for Public Policy and Social Research is now reviewing the 2009 applications for Michigan Applied Public Policy Research projects. Our thanks is extended to everyone who submitted an application, and to those who support this important work. The deadline for this year's grants was September 28, 2009. See grant guidelines and requirements (.pdf)

This year, IPPSR accepted proposals for funding of ongoing research or new research focused on tools, policies or incentives that work on behalf of economic recovery overall or in a particular market or for a specified population. The award will vary from $1,000 up to $15,000. An additional $10,000 designated for survey research is available to grant applicants should they indicate that as the intended research method.

IPPSR has distributed more than $2.25 million in grants over the life of the MAPPR program. Research has explored new strategies in urban renewal, minority business leadership, renewable energy, food inspection and homeland security, among many other topics of regional, statewide and national interest.

Grant recipients will generate discussion of a policy-relevant issue and pertinent economic growth possibilities with a report of their work that will be published as a research brief. The research brief will be circulated in the policy arena. This publication is not intended as an academic publication, although a separate production of academic standards is encouraged.
