Program Planning, Marketing Communications

AnnMarie Schneider, M.S.
With over 20 years experience in communications, public policy and government relations, Schneider has directed her passion and expertise toward the creation of policy education programs.

Schneider played a key role in the development of IPPSR's Legislative Leadership Program, an education forum that establishes the first link between research and new law makers, resulting in better informed policy decisions. She continues to help manage and administrate the policy education program. With the advent of term limits, Schneider has helped model the development of similar partnerships on a national level. Throughout her career, she has focused on building a better understanding of pressing public policy issues within local, state and national arenas. Her emphasis on building a strong bi-partisan program continues to provide incoming legislators research-based information on topics ranging from the budget process to education and health care.

At Michigan State University, she is also responsible for creating networks comprised of faculty researchers, policy practitioners, community activists, and business leaders to foster discussions on issues of public concern. Before joining IPPSR, she directed communications, public education and outreach efforts for numerous state departments including Commerce, Natural Resources, Social Services, the Cabinet Council on Human Investment and the Governor's Office.  She has also worked with several professional associations.

As Director of Program Planning and Development, Schneider advises and implements communications and marketing strategies for IPPSR-sponsored special programs, including the Legislative Leadership Program, the Michigan Political Leadership Program, Annual Forum Series, and the Urban Research Interest Group.

Earlier in her career, she taught at Catherine Spalding University and served as a professional speech and language pathologist for Humana Inc. Hospitals and Kentucky’s public schools in Louisville, Kentucky. She earned her B.A. and M.S. in Speech and Communication from Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville, respectively. She has been an active, award-winning member of the Public Relations Society of America and has received special recognition for her work in public education, government relations and local community work.
