Area Pundits Convene at MSU for Election Wrap-up

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The November 5, 2002 Michigan general election of 148 legislators and other statewide officials including governor, attorney general and secretary of state will have dramatic effects on the state for decades to come.

On November 15, 2002 Michigan State University’s Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) and the Michigan Political History Society will provide a wrap-up of the election and forecast on just what can be expected. Entitled Off the Record - Live!, the event will be moderated by Tim Skubick and held at MSU’s Kellogg Center in Big Ten Room B from 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Other highlights include:

  • A review by gubernatorial campaign leaders: Chris DeWitt, Granholm for Governor Campaign communications director, and Dan Pero, Dick Posthumus for Governor campaign chairman.
  • An election recap by Steve Mitchell, Mitchell Research & Communications, Inc., and Ed Sarpolus, EPIC/MRA.
  • An overview of Michigan’s election history by Bill Ballenger, Inside Michigan Politics.
  • A snapshot into the future by new elected leaders in Michigan.

The event will conclude with a reception that will feature the current and future who’s who of Michigan’s political leaders.

The program is offered jointly by the Michigan Political History Society, the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP) and the MSU Office of Governmental Affairs.
